• pH Testing Tips: Ensure the soil moisture level is at least 5 before conducting the pH test.Insert the probe at least 2-4 inches into the soil to obtain accurate readings. Since soil most often is in/close to neutral state(with pH value of 7), it is highly likely that you find the needle in display window stay still (Because the default pH setting is around 8) when you use it to test the pH value of soil. Please rest assured that this is a normal phenomenon.
• OPERATING TIPS: Do not force it into very hard soil or touch hard object since it will be easy to damage the probe.Do not use it to test pure water or other liquids.It can only be used to measure soil.Don't leave the probe in the soil longer than necessary because the metal electrodes may pit,with the possibility of damage to the meter mechanism.Insure that the probe is wiped clean and well dried before storing in order to minimize the oxidation of the metal electrodes.
• Caution: Do notforce the probe into the soil,as this could damage the probe.If you encounter resistance,try another spot. Regularly inspect the probe and tips. If you notice any rust,lightlysand the probe and tips using #400 to #1000 grit sandpaper beforeeach use to prevent oxidation from affecting the test results.
• Improve the accuracy of readings: If the soil is too dry the indicator will not move, and water it before testing. Water may not penetrate the soil evenly,try measuring at diferent locations and depths to get an accurate reading.
• Please Note: To ensure accurate readings, avoid immersing the plant moisture meter in water or any other liquids.To get the relative pH value close to the absolute value, soil moisture should be between 4 & 7.
